# reFraim > reFraim is a localization plugin for Adobe After Effects that translates text layers in place, replaces fonts across compositions, and can be driven by a studio's own pipeline through the reFraim Automation API. It is built for post-production studios, broadcasters, agencies and brands that deliver the same motion-graphics package in many languages. Website: https://refraim.ai Contact: connect@refraim.ai Supported today: Adobe After Effects (macOS and Windows, CEP panel). In development: Adobe Photoshop (UXP), Adobe Illustrator and After Effects on Adobe's UXP platform. ## What reFraim does - Translates selected text layers or every text layer in a project while keeping timing, expressions, keyframes and layer hierarchy intact. - Preserves line breaks, letter case and the original punctuation style of titles, lower thirds and subtitles. - Replaces fonts globally across compositions and nested layers, and suggests script-compatible fonts (Arabic, Hebrew, CJK, Thai, Devanagari and more) when the original font lacks the target script. - Offers a Bulk API mode: a JSON document describing composition, layer, target language and replacement font that the plugin applies in one pass. - Accepts jobs pushed by a studio system: the pipeline posts a job to the reFraim API, the plugin polls for waiting jobs and applies them, and the API reports results back (including an optional webhook). - Uses server-validated licenses with per-device activation and seat limits. ## Who it is for - Post-production and VFX studios localizing trailers, promos and broadcast packages. - Global brands and agencies producing multi-market campaigns from one master project. - Pipeline and workflow engineers who want translation and font changes triggered from CI/CD, MAM, DAM or CMS systems instead of by hand. ## Key facts - Plugin type: Adobe CEP panel with ExtendScript host scripts (After Effects). A UXP build for Photoshop is in development; Adobe has announced UXP public betas for After Effects (November 2026) and Illustrator (Spring 2027), and reFraim follows that roadmap. - Translation engine: machine translation served by the reFraim API; studio-controlled phrase presets override machine output. - Installation: signed macOS installer (DMG), ZXP for Adobe extension managers, or a ZIP for manual installs. - Pricing: free 7-day trial (sign in with Google, Microsoft or Apple at https://refraim.ai/account/), then $49 per month per studio seat with 2 workstations; cancel any time. Volume licensing: connect@refraim.ai. ## Links - [Homepage](https://refraim.ai/): product overview, demo video, downloads. - [Features](https://refraim.ai/#rft-mount): capability list. - [FAQ](https://refraim.ai/#refraim-faq): short answers to common questions. - [Get started](https://refraim.ai/#refraim-getstarted): request a demo and download the plugin. - [Full text for language models](https://refraim.ai/llms-full.txt) ## Team Founded by Helen Greene (Greenhaus Studios), Paul Holtzhausen (Vibe Creative) and Martin Nieuwoudt (software architecture, generative AI).
